Can England finally end 56 years of hurt at the 2022 World Cup Qatar, or will it be further heartbreak for Gareth Southgate’s side?

In the countdown to the tournament which gets under way on Sunday November 20, Jamie Carragher is predicting a mouth-watering final after playing Telegraph Sport’s interactive predictor.

Carragher, the former Liverpool and England international centre-back who featured at two World Cup finals – 2006 and 2010 – has predicted that Southgate’s side would finish top of their group despite it being “tougher than what people will think”.
