The GREATEST Male Sprinters Of All Time..

Welcome back to Athlete Center, today on the channel we are going to share The Greatest Sprinters of All Time. With the rising popularity of the sprint, the sport has seen some of the best sprinters of all time. Usually, there are three sprints held at the current time. It’s the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 400 meters sprint. Sprint, also known as dashes, is raced over a short distance. Sprint is one of the oldest sports dating back to the Ancient Olympic Games.

Usain Bolt. Number one on our list of the best sprinters of all time is non-other than the retired Jamaican sprinter, Usain Bolt. 36 year-old Bolt is widely considered the greatest sprinter of all time. Bolt showed his sprint potential as a child. He would run in his parish’s annual national primary school meet, and by age 12, he was the school’s fastest runner over the 100meters distance. Carl Lewis. Born as Frederick Carlton Lewis, he is a former American track and field athlete. The athlete was a dominant sprinter and long jumper who competed in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and long jump events. His father coached Lewis since young, and by the age of 13, he had already started competing in the long jump. He proved himself to be a very promising athlete at an early age. During his high school and college years, Lewis broke many jump records. Then in 1980, he qualified for the American team for the 1980 Olympics in the long jump and as a team member of the 4×100 m relay. Jesse Owens. Our third number is Jesse Owens. Born on September 12, 1913, Owens was a former American track and field athlete and an Olympic gold medalist. Jesse specialized in sprints and the long jump. Owens is recognized as the greatest and most famous athlete in track and field history. However, as he worked different menial jobs during his youth, he discovered his passion for running. in today’s video we’ll take a look at the greatest sprinters of all time Usain Bolt is definitely great and he’ll obviously feature on this list but he’s not the only one who shocked the world with his superhuman dashes we’ve witnessed some great men and women in the game who could just as easily be the fastest people to have ever walked the planet let’s begin starting with Justin Gatlin the unreal Sprinter from America remains one of the biggest names in the sport gatlin’s biggest achievement came at the 2004 Olympic Games when he ran the 100 meter in 9.85 seconds to win gold he also won silver in the relay and bronze in the 200 meter the legend made the list despite being banned for consumption of a prohibited substance for four years in 2006. some believe he could have broken multiple records but he didn’t because Gatlin had been banned during his Peak years he returned in the 2012 London Games and won bronze in the 100 meter before becoming the oldest man to earn Olympic glory after winning the silver in the 2000 16 Rio Olympics up next Donovan Bailey the greatest ever Canadian Sprinter of all time is Donovan Bailey there’s also not a lot of debate behind his status as one of the great sprinters of all time his moment of greatness arrived at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics when he ran the 100 meter and 9.84 seconds to win gold it wasn’t until Usain Bolt Sprint in 2008 that his record was finally broken but it did stand for a good 12 years and hey that’s as good as it gets not to mention the time he fought off The Challenge from Michael Johnson in a 150 meter race back in 1997 to become the world’s fastest man unsurprisingly the man was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame Canada on two separate occasions once in o4 for individual sprinting and a second time in 2008 as a member of their summer olympics 96 relay team on to asafa Powell asafa Powell was the first man from Jamaica to truly enter the sprinting scene and laid the foundation for other greats to follow but that’s not his biggest claim to Faith That Remains an achievement that might never be rival it’s the fact that he is the greatest statistic in sprinting the most number of sub 10 finishes than anybody else in the sports with 98 he also held the 100 meter record from 2005 to 2008 with times of 9.77 seconds and 9.74 seconds the legendary Sprinter had many injuries and was the focus of some doping allegations so his career remained a bit disrupted which is why he only won one Olympic goal and that was in the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 4 by 100 meter relay after that Maurice Green the 100 meter world record was broken by Maurice Greene in 1999. he was the first man in history to cover the distance in less than 9.8 seconds at a time when people believed it was impossible this was followed by double gold medals at the Sydney Olympics in the 100 meter and then later in the relay event green was also the world champion three times in his superb career from 1990 7 to 2001 over the 100 meter distance his record might have been better later on but he remained a legend in the sport and definitely is one of the greatest sprinters of all time unfortunately his career was cut short after an injury and then some decreased participation turned into retirement in 2008 still though green will always be remembered as a legend moving on Tyson Gay everyone knows who Tyson Gay is and you knew he’d be on this list it’s just surprising to find him so far from number one right well if Tyson Gay existed in any other era he may have been considered the fastest ever but sadly he suffers from the same problem that Buzz Aldrin does that’s coming second his timing of 9.69 seconds in the 100 meter dash is just behind the all-time record from Usain Bolt but he was ranked number one in the world twice in his career for the dash before Mr bolt arrived on the scene Gay’s best performance remains in the 2007 World Championships where he won three gold medals in the 100 meter 200 meter and the 4 by 100 meter relay in fact he’s the only man in history to completely 100 meter under 10 seconds 200 meter under 20 seconds and the 400 meter under 45 seconds and we don’t think anyone’s breaking that record anytime soon then Johann Blake you know how he said that gay suffers from Buzz Aldrin syndrome no it’s a thing we just made it up well he’s not the only one his title of being the second fastest man in the world is shared with Johann Blake of Jamaica he’s had the honor of running alongside and training with the world’s fastest man but he just couldn’t break the all-time record he was the 2011 World Champion but his Olympic run in the 2012 London Games was pretty decent too he would only win the silver in the 100 and 200 meter dash but won the gold in the 4 by 100 meter relay and that’s still as good as you can get when you share the same era as Usain Bolt he would go on to retain that gold in Rio four years later but missed out on the bronze finishing fourth not to mention Michael Johnson if we talk about consistency there hasn’t been anyone better than Michael Johnson some of his records are crazy good we can’t lie Johnson lost the fastest man in the world title to Donovan Bailey but he won most races he participated in to this day his world record of the 300 meter sprint stands and his record in the 200 meter was unbeaten for more than a decade in fact he’s the only male Sprinter to have won both 200 meter and 400 meter races at the same Olympic Games in Atlanta along with that he’s also the only athlete to defend his 400 meter Crown which he did in Sydney not to mention the eight gold medals he won at the world championship which would have been the all-time record but then Usain Bolt happened apart from all those achievements Johnson also gave us a fantastic quotation where he debunked that life isn’t like a marathon instead like a Sprint with long stretches of hard work punctuated by brief moments in which we’re given the opportunity to perform at our best next entry Carl Lewis another Legend entering the track and field events from the U.S was Carl Lewis who held the world records not only in sprinting but also in the long jump Lewis won a total of 10 medals at the Olympics and it was seriously impressive considering he won nine goals he also won eight goals along with a silver and bronze in the world championships and his dominance was such that no one could match his legacy until that point Carl Lewis arrived on the scene in 1979 and was a part of the events until 1996. for his achievements he became the world athlete of the century and the Sportsman of the century he also won the Olympian of the century award handed out by a number of sports federations before we wrap it up Jesse Owens when talking about legacies not many can match that of Jesse Owens it extends Beyond track and field in fact he ranks among the greatest athletes of all time but why well simply because he wasn’t just going up against some superb athletes but also Adolf Hitler in many ways Nazi Germany created dirt tracks in the 1936 Berlin games there were old-fashion even at the time despite all these hindrances Owens won the gold for running the 100 meter in 10.3 seconds and the 200 meter and 20.7 seconds many reporters pointed out how Owens had destroyed Hitler’s myth of Aryan Supremacy by producing these superb results in front of him the American also holds the record for the greatest 45 minutes ever in sports at the 1935 Big Ten track where he set three world records and tied another one and a time span of less than half an hour finally who else but Usain Bolt a name that needs no introduction it’s in the name you know the fastest human on the planet is rightfully among the greatest sprinters of all time he won three different Olympics with three gold medals and three events each and that puts him ahead of most names if not all on the list his claim to fame of course is that he’s got the 100 meter record at 9.58 seconds and we just don’t think anyone will beat it we’re sure every generation said the same and we’ll truly be surprised if this one is brought broken not to mention his record of 19.19 seconds for the 200 meter is also an insane one bolt called himself the greatest athlete to live and we’re sure he’s in the conversations oh and he named his son thunder so that’s when we’ll have to revisit in a few years that’s a wrap for this video which of these sprinters is your favorite let us know in the comments below make sure to give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to our channel for more videos
